Titi Akinsanmi speaks at the Data Privacy and Security Seminar Series of the African Academic Network on Internet Policy titled Data Privacy and Security: Building the Evidence Base and a multi-stakeholder action base for Personal Data Protection.

The Colloquium convened African stakeholders drawn from Academia, Government and the private sector. Over the course of two day event, there was presentation of papers based on research carried out by academics. This then followed by panel discussions reviewing the issues identified in the report – which then inform breakout sessions tasked with the goal of identifying and presenting related next steps and action plans for the network and attending stakeholders.

This Colloquium / Seminar Series is a summary of the two independently commissioned research papers by Dr. Lola Shyllon ( A Commissioned Research on The Data Privacy and Security Landscape in Africa ) and Chukwuyere Ebere Izuogu ( A Study prepared for the World Wide Web Foundation (Web Foundation).Each paper gives an overview of existing laws, policies and related legal agreements that speak to Data Privacy and Security at the continental level with a day of discussion dedicated to the Nigerian case study.
